About:

In 1901 Pasquale (Patsy) Bellucci arrived in New York with his eldest daughter Filomena. They opened the Bellucci Bakery on Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn The Bellucci family had been bakers in Tufino (a municipality of Naples) since the 1700s.
In 1907, Gennaro Lombardi began an apprenticeship at the Bellucci Bakery where he learned how to bake bread and pizza.

In 1910, Gennaro Lombardi married Filomena Bellucci at Mt. Carmel Church in Williamsburg. Two years later, Pasquale put his son-in-law in business by opening Lombardi’s Pizza at 53 Spring Street.

Lombardi’s is considered to be one of the first pizzerias opened in the United States. The original Lombardi’s closed with the death of Filomena Bellucci Lombardi in 1964.

In 1994, Andrew Bellucci re-opened Lombardi’s Pizza down the block at 32 Spring Street with partners Gerry Lombardi and John Brescio, resurrecting the Lombardi name with high quality pizza made without compromise.

After a 16-year pizza exile, Andrew returned to the ovens in 2013, introducing the NY slice to Malaysia, followed by stints at Joe’s Pizza in Shanghai, New York and Ann Arbor and Executive Chef at Rubirosa.

The day before Christmas during the Pandemic of 2020-21, Andrew opened his namesake Bellucci Pizza in Astoria, Queens continuing the Bellucci tradition of making high quality pizza without compromise.
